Throbbing. His head is throbbing, and even the light on the other side of his eyelids is too much for him to handle. How much did he drink? Does he even want to know how much he drank? Why had he drank? He knew better, he should have known this would happen-

Oh ugh why does his mouth taste like this...

A deep groan precedes him when he finally rolls out of bed. Why can't he feel carpet underfoo- oh there it is. It's thicker than he remembers it being. His eyes haven't opened yet. He actually has the comforter he'd been tangled up in wrapped around himself tightly, part of it up over his head. His stocking feet are nearly silent as he pads his way down an unfamiliar hall in an unfamiliar house in search of water. He could worry about the rest later, but right this second, he is a spectre in a white duvet in search of relief for his cottonmouth.

...Thank you. For all of this. [Don't worry about anything? But that was kind of his thing, he worried. About everything. But breakfast was delicious and he still needs a shower, so Yuri excuses himself, bowing deeply to Victor before beginning the trek back to the bathroom. He's pretty sure there are towels there, clean and waiting to be used.]

[Victor points him back in the right direction, getting back on his phone after Yuri is retreated to the bathroom. He's talking with the customs office about what to do about a stolen passport and ID. He writes down some information, eventually thanking the woman on the line flirtatiously.

By the time Yuri is emerging from the shower, Victor is standing at his front door, chatting rather cheerily with some men in police uniforms. They needed to make sure Yuri was actually safe and accounted for, before closing up the missing person's case. He has Yuri's remaining assets under an arm, a single bag with some scattered clothes that weren't made off with. He'll throw a glance back to Yuri, waving before pointing to him for the cops benefit]

There he is, officers! [he'll go on in Russian-- "sorry about the trouble! Thank you for making it out here so quickly."]

[Yuri stands stock-still in the hall watching Victor talking to the police, rather intimidated by the look of the men. He squeezes the ends of the towel around his shoulders and nods at them, stepping forward to give them any remaining information they needed, with Victor playing the go-between as he explained what he needed. He'd have to stay in the country in the meantime, as he already knew, while they attempted to track down whether any of his cards or identification had been used since being stolen. He bowed once more after they'd finished writing down at least his online contact, knowing he could at the very least receive email updates as long as he had access to Victor's computer.

When they're gone, Yuri slumps over on the sofa he'd settled into over the course of the questioning, settling his towel over his face.]

[Victor bids the police a fond sounding farewell, before retreating back to Yuri. He stands with a foot cocked out, resting on the heel of it with a popped hip, his arms crossed. A little sigh at Yuri's distress, he can understand this is lot to handle]

Seems like you'll be my guest for at least a few weeks. Are you comfortable with that?

[Yuri peeks out from under his towel at that, sucking his lower lip into his mouth then letting it back out again as he stares down at the couch cushion.]

It'll take time to get used to.

Anything I can get you, just let me know. I'll get it done. [he's confident in that! Even if he can get Yuri home right away, he can make this bad situation as comfortable as possible]

Sorry if my enthusiasm appeared misplaced. I'm relieved you were here and safe, not in a drunken stupor during a robbery.

[He does have to concede that point; if he hadn't been here, away from the break-in, who knew what might have happened? He pushes himself back upright and folds his hands together in his lap, looking down at his fingers wringing around eachother anxiously.]

I owe you for the most fun I've ever had at one of those boring banquets, Yuri. I'm pleased to help you out. [he'll sit down on the couch beside the one Yuri settled into, looking at the man with that charming grin of him]

[Stop looking at him like that Victor, he's already flustered enough and that grin is doing funny things to his stomach. It could be that Victor just turned that smile on anyone he found entertaining, but that didn't change what it did to him, personally. His face is a lighter pink as he looks down at his knees.]

I still want to be able to help, especially if I'm staying here.

Hmm... [Victor will tap a finger to his lips, looking around. What could he give Yuri to for him that wasn't asking too much?]

Do you cook?

A little. Mom taught me before I went to the States so I wouldn't have to live on freezer food the whole time.

[wauuu]

I'm not picky! If you could do the cooking for me, I would appreciate it.

[Yuri lightens up a little, nodding as he takes the idea to heart.]

You'll have to get more food here then. All you have is canned and preserved stuff.

[wauuu]

We'll go shopping! Anything you need, we can stock up since it'll be a couple weeks at the least. [he'll hear a scratching at the door, perking up to see a needy Makkachin at the backdoor, wanting to be let in]

Do you like dogs, Yuri? You're going to get jumped on. [he laughs, going to the door to let his poodle in]

I love dogs. I miss mine a- [And he was bowled over by an excited standard poodle, floored and promptly sniffed and licked. He can't help but laugh, even as he splutters at the dog breath.]

[Victor lets Makkachin tackle and sniff all over Yuri, licking the man and cuddle him]

Wow! He likes you already! That's great, he could use the attention.

[Yuri tries to sit up to be able to scratch under Makkachin's ears, making smoochy noises at him then pressing his face into the dog's fur.] I'll definitely watch him for you while you're out. He's such a good boy. You're a good boy. [He continues to baby Makkachin for a few moments longer, scratching at his belly when he turns over onto his back. He's a lot bigger in person.]

Cook and walk my dog, then! That's more than enough to cover your stay, I would appreciate it. [that's a good look on Yuri, smiling and unburdened for a moment. Makkachin was ALL ABOUT the other man, Victor's glad they got along immediately.]

[Yuri's hands stay in Makkachin's fur as he looks back around, his smile fading some at the way Victor is looking at him. It makes his face feel hot, embarrassed for no adequate reason. He picks himself off the floor, puts his hand down for Makkachin to lick before telling him to stay, and grabbing his clothes to be able to change out of the borrowed ones. It would be a good step toward feeling more normal again.

He comes back out in a high-necked sweater and comfortable pants, and curls himself up against the arm of the couch, his hands tucked against his lap. It felt awkward again, being here with no real idea of how to talk to Victor. He is still a little sick, and more than a little humiliated, so he doesn't want to bring up the banquet. At least Makkachin is a good distraction, hopping up onto the couch and laying his head in Yuri's lap.]

[While Yuri scoots off to change his clothes, Victor goes to snag his laptop off the counter. He curls up on the other couch, legs tucked to cradle the computer in front of him. Tapping away on his social media, he'll perk up at Yuri entering. He grabs his own phone once Yuri settles down, holding it like a camera before asking]

Can I take a picture of you? I want to post that you're settling in alright!

Picture? Um. Ok, just post it in a couple of places. There'll be a lot of rumors.

[Yuri's arms remained around Makkachin the lower half of his face buried in curls. His eyes stayed on Victor, brighter now that he was fully awake.]

[Victor will snap a cute picture, Yuri looks quite cozy despite the situation, Makkachin is precious as ever. He shows it to Yuri for his approval, before uploading it. Hmm, what message...]

Hahaa, I suppose people will think we're an item, now! [he DID take Yuri home half naked....]

[Yuri's expression says it all: please don't tell them that that's what's happening. The picture is nice though, and Makkachin is, of course, adorable. In other circumstances he might have been able to appreciate the image as a whole.]

I don't think I'm going to want to talk to anyone from the news after all this. They already covered my biggest failure of my career. They'd probably call it pitiful that you took me home blackout drunk.

You're not pitiful, Yuri. Even coming in last at the Grand Prix makes you sixth best. Most people aren't even close to sixth best... at anything. [he'll say this casually, like it's absolutely no big deal how Yuri placed]

If it's any relief, there's no pictures of you at the banquet up. Posting pictures from private events is frowned on, after all.

You don't get it though. You're one of the most talented people in the world. I had to claw my way up, every rank, every competition...

[Tears form in the corners of his eyes that he's trying to push back. His face starts turning pink again.]

I worked so hard to get to where I was and then I crashed and burned in front of the entire world. Everything fell apart.
