Throbbing. His head is throbbing, and even the light on the other side of his eyelids is too much for him to handle. How much did he drink? Does he even want to know how much he drank? Why had he drank? He knew better, he should have known this would happen-

Oh ugh why does his mouth taste like this...

A deep groan precedes him when he finally rolls out of bed. Why can't he feel carpet underfoo- oh there it is. It's thicker than he remembers it being. His eyes haven't opened yet. He actually has the comforter he'd been tangled up in wrapped around himself tightly, part of it up over his head. His stocking feet are nearly silent as he pads his way down an unfamiliar hall in an unfamiliar house in search of water. He could worry about the rest later, but right this second, he is a spectre in a white duvet in search of relief for his cottonmouth.

[Well, he couldn't argue against salmon at least. And he actually does have an idea now that he's been presented with a large amount of fish.]

Do you have bred crumbs? Or we can make them with some of the olive oil and seasonings you got.

I got fresh bread, we can tear some up for crumbs. [he'll find the olive oil and gesture to the spice rack for Yuri to pick what he wants. Helping out with dinner is better than doing it yourself, that's for certain. Victor actually looks pleased by the domesticity]

Actually if you toast it it crumbles apart better so you have more even crust on what you're using it for. That's what the oil is good for.

[As he talks he fishes out a bowl and the eggs that he'll have to make into a bath for the fish after portioning it.]

How much? I'll toast some now! [whatever this is Yuri has in mind, it's starting to sound really good. He'll takes a few slices of bread and set two in to be toasted]

Maybe a couple more pieces. you can make a little extra and we can store it in the freezer for a long time.

[Yuri's actually quite pleased with the way things are going now, being able to take some sort of agency over what's going on.]

What kind of vegetables do we have available? And I need a pot for rice.

We used the carrots and potatoes for the stew, I think there's zucchini, beats, and yams left. [he got a few more veggies but he forgot to list them, so Yuri might find what he had in mind if he looks. Victor is rummaging through his lower cabinets, eventually producing a rice cooker.]

Perfect. [Yuuri hefts the rice cooker onto the counter and strats to figure the settings for it out. It's older than the one he's used to, but it's relatively simple. He has to wash the dust out before they can use it though.]

Hm...since it's fish maybe the zucchini. Or possibly a salad if you have other stuff in the fridge. Maybe double check so we actually know what we have.

[He turned to the egg mixture that he was setting up to check the consistency, then retrieve the toast to start turning into crumbs as soon as it was toasted all the way through.]

Ooh, I'll make a Russian coleslaw! That will go nicely. [he had just what they needed for it! He goes to the fridge to take out a head of cabbage and some of the extra carrots from the stew.]

[He nods, settling into crushing the bread into crumbs in a plastic bag after digging one out of a box in the cupboard. He glances back at Victor in the middle of it, smiling faintly. Domestic, and weirdly cute. They lapsed into comfortable silence after that and he was able to concentrate on coating the fish cutlets, set the rice to cook and finally prepare a pan in which to cook the fish. He had to linger near the stove to keep an eye on everything, but it was good for clearing his head.]

[Victor has an easier task aside from all the chopping he has to do. He slices the cabbage and carrots in to thin strings, mixing them together with olive oil, lemon juice, and thin sliced almonds which had prepackaged. Coleslaw in this style was a pretty healthy option and he made it often to have as a crunchy snack. He'll get some onto a fork and stand beside Yuri, offering it with a smile]

[His head tilts some as he observes the strings of vegetable on the fork, then cups his hand under it before taking the bite off the fork and chewing thoughtfully. It's not bad, but cabbage wasn't his favorite thing ever. He'd still eat it though, so he nodded and went back to his fish.]

I like that better than American coleslaw for sure.

It's a decent snack during training, Yakov suggested it to me a long time ago. [he'll eat some himself, casually from the same fork he gave Yuri. His butt leaning back against the counter so he could watch Yuri prepare the fish]

Is that the kind with mayonnaise? [definitely NOT a healthy side dish.....]

Yeah. It's gross and kind of slimy. I nearly disowned Phichit for making me try it once. [Yuri makes a face as he flips over the first couple of cutlets to cook through evenly. The rice would be done about the same time that it was, so everything would be plated quickly enough. He'll just pretend that he's not childish enough for the thought of 'indirect kisses' to be a thing when Victor eats off the same fork.] Don't eat all of it before supper's done ok?

I won't, honey. [he'll wink at that, pulling himself off the counter to give Yuri some space after the little joke. He sets the salad bowl back down and will grabbing some plates and silverware after. Casual as anything he goes on talking]

Phichit, you said that name a couple of times now. Is he your boyfriend?

[Yuri nearly puffs up at the joke, but with the question he blinks. Oh, this isn't actually the first time he's gotten that question, so it's easier to answer.]

Mm, no, he's a friend. My best friend actually, from when I was still training in Detroit. He's one of the skaters from Thailand. Here.

[He pulls up a video posted on Phichit's instragram feed of his practicing with Celestino a few months back. His expression softens as he watches. Even if it's not romantic, he does adore Phichit, that much is obvious.]

[Victor watches the video with curiosity]

Wow! I've seen him before, he's really stunning. Lots of unique energy. You both have such strong step sequences! Did you get that from each other or your coach?

A little of both, I think. [Yuri's chin props up on his hand as he flips down further in Phichit's feed to find older photos. Several masterful selfies later, there's one that another skater took of the two of them together, just talking. There are more in the same set, stretching and talking and skating, though one in particular is the two of them just hamming it up. What even was that face he was making?]

He's probably the one I have the most fun watching out of anyone. Not even out of bias either, he's just that good and he's really great at recoveries if he slips. He never slows down.

These photos are so good! He's like a selfie master! [HE THOUGHT HE WAS GOOD AT THEM, BUT THIS GUY IS WAY BETTER....]

He got one of those gyroscopically stable camera sticks too so he can take great selfies at literally every angle! He could be an actual photographer if he ever stopped skating.

No kidding! I'd hire him to do my photo shoots. What's his twitter handle? I need to friend him-- [he'll find for his own phone, looking at it before giving a blink at Yuri]

I'm not really all that active on mine... [Yuri still hands his phone over so that Victor can copy the handle for Phichit's page. He chooses not to warn his friend that he has an incoming request from Victor; he could see it and have his moment freaking out all on his own. He'd explain how Victor found his way to the page if asked but otherwise? He'd watch it play out. Still, he points out his own handle. It's been under a list of the thousands of people that had subscribed to the RSS feed from Victor's page for literal years. Most of his own page was made up of other people's photos and videos that he was tagged in, and a few hashtags he had whitelisted.]

[Victor will click away on his phone while Yuri finishes the fish, looking over Yuri's profile now that he could access it. Curiousity peaks when he sees the date Yuri started following his account and he double checks it]

Wow! You started following me the very day I joined!

[Great, now Victor is going to think he's weird. Yuri's ears turn pink and he refuses to look back around, just occupying himself with plating the food as soon as the rice cooker had given its little 'ding!' when it was done.]

I've...kind of...been a fan for a long time. I really looked up to you.

I thought drunk you might have been exaggerating! How flattering. [You don't remember all the oversharing you did drunk, Yuri, but he does! It would be mighty remiss of him to think this was odd, Victor was aware he had tons of fans, in the skating world he occupied. Finding out another skater didn't admired him was the more unusual thing.

At least it seems very charming to him.]

[He'll just leave off the part about hat having been the reason he had made the account in the first place, after ages of badgering by his best friend.]

No, no...drunk me knows what he's saying, even if sober me doesn't...

[Sober him is still trying to dredge of more of the night. It had to have been a hell of a ride of Victor was this entertained with him.]
