Throbbing. His head is throbbing, and even the light on the other side of his eyelids is too much for him to handle. How much did he drink? Does he even want to know how much he drank? Why had he drank? He knew better, he should have known this would happen-

Oh ugh why does his mouth taste like this...

A deep groan precedes him when he finally rolls out of bed. Why can't he feel carpet underfoo- oh there it is. It's thicker than he remembers it being. His eyes haven't opened yet. He actually has the comforter he'd been tangled up in wrapped around himself tightly, part of it up over his head. His stocking feet are nearly silent as he pads his way down an unfamiliar hall in an unfamiliar house in search of water. He could worry about the rest later, but right this second, he is a spectre in a white duvet in search of relief for his cottonmouth.

[Yuri's hands stay in Makkachin's fur as he looks back around, his smile fading some at the way Victor is looking at him. It makes his face feel hot, embarrassed for no adequate reason. He picks himself off the floor, puts his hand down for Makkachin to lick before telling him to stay, and grabbing his clothes to be able to change out of the borrowed ones. It would be a good step toward feeling more normal again.

He comes back out in a high-necked sweater and comfortable pants, and curls himself up against the arm of the couch, his hands tucked against his lap. It felt awkward again, being here with no real idea of how to talk to Victor. He is still a little sick, and more than a little humiliated, so he doesn't want to bring up the banquet. At least Makkachin is a good distraction, hopping up onto the couch and laying his head in Yuri's lap.]

[While Yuri scoots off to change his clothes, Victor goes to snag his laptop off the counter. He curls up on the other couch, legs tucked to cradle the computer in front of him. Tapping away on his social media, he'll perk up at Yuri entering. He grabs his own phone once Yuri settles down, holding it like a camera before asking]

Can I take a picture of you? I want to post that you're settling in alright!

Picture? Um. Ok, just post it in a couple of places. There'll be a lot of rumors.

[Yuri's arms remained around Makkachin the lower half of his face buried in curls. His eyes stayed on Victor, brighter now that he was fully awake.]

[Victor will snap a cute picture, Yuri looks quite cozy despite the situation, Makkachin is precious as ever. He shows it to Yuri for his approval, before uploading it. Hmm, what message...]

Hahaa, I suppose people will think we're an item, now! [he DID take Yuri home half naked....]

[Yuri's expression says it all: please don't tell them that that's what's happening. The picture is nice though, and Makkachin is, of course, adorable. In other circumstances he might have been able to appreciate the image as a whole.]

I don't think I'm going to want to talk to anyone from the news after all this. They already covered my biggest failure of my career. They'd probably call it pitiful that you took me home blackout drunk.

You're not pitiful, Yuri. Even coming in last at the Grand Prix makes you sixth best. Most people aren't even close to sixth best... at anything. [he'll say this casually, like it's absolutely no big deal how Yuri placed]

If it's any relief, there's no pictures of you at the banquet up. Posting pictures from private events is frowned on, after all.

You don't get it though. You're one of the most talented people in the world. I had to claw my way up, every rank, every competition...

[Tears form in the corners of his eyes that he's trying to push back. His face starts turning pink again.]

I worked so hard to get to where I was and then I crashed and burned in front of the entire world. Everything fell apart.

[Victor looks up at Yuri and his expression drops. He sets his laptop aside, stands, and points down at Yuri on the couch, opposite hand on his hip. His voice is stern.]

Don't start with that. First off; I know you worked hard, don't act like I didn't. That's insulting. [he is NOT putting up with that]

Second of all, no feeling sorry for yourself. You have a million things going for you and I will list them; [he will count on his fingers as he says them and YES this is very condescending, because you don't seem to know them Yuri.]

You're hot [one finger] you're young [two fingers] you're humble [third finger] but I'm taking that one back, because you're being annoying about it [third finger goes back down] you're the top skater in Japan [third finger again] my dog likes you, which means you're a good person [fourth finger-- does he have ANY intention of stopping? Probably not. He will keep going.]

[The look on Yuri's face is like he's been slapped, but it shifts into aggravation with each new point Victor makes, like he's training a puppy by rubbing its nose in an accident on the carpet. He wants to shove Victor's hands down, to show more spine than this, but he just presses his face into Makkachin's fur more deeply before getting up in the middle of Victor's list. He's beating his retreat back to the bedroom he'd woken up in and if he can find the lock, it will be active. He wasn't going to listen to his idol talking down to him.]

[Victor will continue to yell things as Yuri retreats, but not follow the man.]

You're super fun when drunk! You know how to pole dance! Your expressions are cute! Your step sequences are entrancing! [okay the door got slammed he'll stop, sighing loudly. This is going to turn into a real beauty and the beast thing, isn't it? He's not sure if he's being the beast or not.... hrm...]

[Yuri's pulled a pillow over his head and burrowed into the blankets, determined to hide, to avoid and hopefully bore Victor into retreat. He doesn't hear the shouting anymore, so he uncurls slowly and lays there with the dull thud of his heart in his ears. His head hurts again, but it's most likely not from the booze.

He'll come out in a little while to go exploring the house he'll have to stay in until further notice, pointedly ignoring the other man.]

[Victor is actually gone when Yuri finally pokes his head back out. It's a couple hours even, Victor eventually returning with swing and latch of the front door. Makkachin runs to him immediately, Victor having a clothing bag in one hand and a box in the other, so he can only shoo the dog down. He'll walk to the counter and beckon for Yuri]

Yuriii! I have gifts!

[When Victor had initially gone out, Makkachin had whined and scratched until Yuri had let him in, then been let back out as Yuri crept into the hall to see the rest of the house. He laments briefly that Victor is home and calling out to him, especially in that cheerful tone and considers hiding back out in his room, but...well. He is curious about what Victor's done.

He lingers on the other side of the room with his arms wrapped around himself, frowning softly at the man and his purchases.]

[Victor will hold up the hanger, unzipping the protective bag to show Yuri his own suit from the evening prior]

Your suit, cleaned and pressed. [then he'll point to the box]

A replacement phone. You didn't break your sim card, so your settings and contacts are all restored.

[Yuri relaxes a little at that, coming to retrieve his suit to hang up, as well as the new phone that he would have to set up and update, though knowing that his contacts were all still there helped. His music was gone though, as were the small assortment of apps, but he could worry about those later. Maybe his account would still have his music available for re-download at least.]

You're welcome. [he will lean against the counter, looking Yuri over. He'd thought about their interaction, what had upset Yuri and whether or not he actually felt bad or not. The conclusion; he felt a little bad, but he wasn't sorry. He did think he understood Yuri more, though.]

Three days, then I'm not putting up with it. Mourn and pity party and feel bad for yourself, loud as you like. Be mad at yourself, I understand.

Day four and I don't want to hear any more of it. Day four and you're picking yourself up. Is that fair?

[Just like that, the moment is over before it even started. Victor has a talent for things like that.

So Yuri puffs up briefly, then sighs and slumps forward until his head hits the counter with a soft thud.]

Ok then what do I do after that? I'll probably go stir-crazy here. Besides, we still have to go get actual food if I'm staying here.

...wait, you said this was your vacation place, what happens when you go back to your actual home? [He stands back up with that worried look right back in place, grasping his new phone tightly.] You don't intend to actually move here, do you?

I bought food, it's in the car. I hope you like ice cream, I got three days worth! [he laughs, ice cream was good to cry into, he knows]

Relax while you're here, consider it a vacation. I have a pool, a studio to dance in, a library-- though most of my books are in Russian, there's some in English.

You can use my computer, but if you see anything weird in my history pretend you didn't.

[Victor no you're going to unintentionally make him fat if you offer him ice cream to mourn into. And you didn't even answer the question. Victor please.

Still, the knowledge that there was still stuff to do, ways to keep active, it helps. He's actually considering hiding in the studio for a while later.

He can't help the snort of laughter at the comment about Victor's search history. He'd just open an incognito window for himself so that their histories remained separate. That seems like a logical, non-suspicious way to do things.]

Let me go find a pair of shoes and I'll help with the groceries.

Go hang your suit up before it gets crumpled again. [he'll pass the man the hanger, before leaning down to snuggle his precious dog. "Have you been good, Makkachin? I'm sorry I left, I got you some treats!" he'll coo at the dog until Yuri returns to help with the groceries]

[Yuri lingers outside of Victor's attention for a bit after hanging up his suit, watching the man with his dog. It's adorable, really. When Makkachin's attention turns to him, he chuckles quietly and kneels to scratch under the dog's ears briefly, explaining that they needed to go get groceries but that they'd be back inside in a minute.

Within moments of setting foot outside, he wishes he hadn't, gritting his teeth at the cold immediately seeping into his pants. Russian winters are surely the worst.]

[the cold air outside really makes one appreciate the warm air inside. Victor's house might be too big and rather empty, but at least it was a cozy temperature. Loading bags into both arms, they'll get the groceries inside with only a single trip. Victor really should clean the garage out, he stuffed it full of his old costumes and had no room for his car. At least he had a covered area outdoors so it didn't get snowed on.

Speaking of, Victor spots the white stuff starting to fall as they get inside.]

Good thing I got food, we could get snowed in.

[Yuri's used to hauling a lot of groceries at least, after helping for so long at the inn, but that doesn't account for the single-digit temperatures rapidly falling into the negatives with the fresh snowfall. He shudders when they head back inside and starts unloading the groceries onto the counter, frowning at the Russian lettering on some packages but able to tell well enough what everything is.

It doesn't take him long to start finding places for everything, and already he's making a mental list of things he needs to learn how to make from what they have available here. His browser history would be comprised of a lot of allrecipes searches.]

Snowed in. We're going to be snowed in. [Yuri runs his hands down his face and leans heavily against the counter. He didn't do much with his day and yet already he's tired again. It was probably because of the dark and cold. Maybe he should find that studio now, if only so he could get in a little bit of exercise now that he was up and awake and nor completely miserable.]

[Victor had at least picked up mostly fresh ingredients, lots of vegetable, herbs, and a few different meats for variety. He'll put some potatoes, carrots, and chopped beef squares out for now, rummaging around for a slow cooker.]

Let's get a stew started, if we might be stuck. It won't be ready by dinner, but it'll be good for tomorrow. [he's finding some knives to chop veggies with, it wouldn't be complicated and it would last a couple days between them (and Makkachin, who would much rather eat that then canned dog food!)]

[It's a good idea, and Yuri nods before moving to help, starting to heat the pot up and add water, as well as salt and a few different spices before scooping chopped portions in as soon as it had started to steam. He ran his sleeve around the inside of the lid before rinsing some clinging dust off and putting it on top of the cooker.]
