Throbbing. His head is throbbing, and even the light on the other side of his eyelids is too much for him to handle. How much did he drink? Does he even want to know how much he drank? Why had he drank? He knew better, he should have known this would happen-

Oh ugh why does his mouth taste like this...

A deep groan precedes him when he finally rolls out of bed. Why can't he feel carpet underfoo- oh there it is. It's thicker than he remembers it being. His eyes haven't opened yet. He actually has the comforter he'd been tangled up in wrapped around himself tightly, part of it up over his head. His stocking feet are nearly silent as he pads his way down an unfamiliar hall in an unfamiliar house in search of water. He could worry about the rest later, but right this second, he is a spectre in a white duvet in search of relief for his cottonmouth.

[That would have made more sense, to ask for an escort through this ridiculous house, but he felt much better when he had time to himself to figure things out. He could already feel the crushing helplessness, not to mention listlessness, that came along with a heavy bout of depression. But Victor wasn't having it, he'd said so himself, so he was going to try and fight back out of it.

Makkachin butting up against the backs of his legs brought him back around and he put a hand down to be licked, then started peeking into doors, climbing up and then back down stairs, growing increasingly baffled wondering just why one man wanted or needed this much house to himself. Maybe it would be used to host parties or something of that nature? That seemed pretty logical to Yuri.

When he actually located the studio he was a little bit awed, looking around the polished hardwood and spotless mirrors, and back in a corner, like an afterthought, a steel pole stuck in the ground, all the way up into the ceiling. He stared at it, then turned away and stripped out of his shirt and socks and started to stretch. Victor would be left to his own devices for a while.]

[Most of the rooms Yuri opens are empty, unfurnished or only with a simple bed, put together like it was never once slept in. The library isn't packed, it's more of a study with a cozy looking reading nook in a window seat. There's Victor's upstairs master room, which is furnished and slightly messy, and beside that is the studio. If the house was designed a bit better, the studio would be downstairs, to avoid making thump noises across the floor above. Victor finished up the stew, sets it to slow cook, and can hear the shuffle of feet in the studio.

He gives Yuri a couple hours, but by the third he's overcome. Either restlessness or loneliness or a combination there-of, but he'll go up and open the door to see what Yuri is up to. He brings a couple of water bottles up as an excuse]

[When Yuri practiced on his own, time seemed to stop mattering so much. He hadn't even realized that he'd been in the studio for so long, even when Makkachin had wandered back out again looking to curl up on Victor's bed.

When Victor appears, Yuri is hanging from the pole in the corner of the room, hangs and legs clasped around it in such a way that he could drift around it in a slow, mid-level spin. He had just lifted up to swing his legs up and over his head when he finally noticed the door opening to admit Victor, and he lets go at the worst possible moment, sliding down the metal with his calves still around it, resulting in his head smacking into the floor and slight friction burns on his legs. He falls over onto his side with a groan and scratches through his hair where his head aches the most.]

Yuri!! [He's rushing over to try and right the man, kneeling to the floor fussily. What is he every going to do with this strange, strange Japanese man that he finds so damn intriguing?]

[Thank you for not laughing at him, Victor. His pride is already in tatters.]

Ow...

[He pushes himself up to sit on the floor with his back against the pole, reaching for one of the bottles of water to sip from.]

That looked like it hurt! Do you want some ice? Or a heat pack? [nope, no laughter, that wasn't funny at all]

I'm ok. It's not the first time I've done that. [Yuri's head still hangs though, his hand slowly rubbing across the spot in the hopes of alleviating the ache. He glances up at Victor, then looks away with a soft pout.] Sorry for worrying you.

I should have knocked, maybe? [it's his own house and Yuri hadn't explicitly asked to be left alone, had he?]

Please don't crack your head open, while you're here. [or ever, really]

It's incredibly hard to get an ambulance out here in the snow.

It's your own house, you don't have to knock. And besides, I don't have my insurance information memorized anyway.

[Yuri slowly picked himself up off the floor and headed over to where he'd left his shirt, pulling it back on. He slipped his glasses back on and looked at Victor again.]

[Victor looks back, watching the man dress again. He looks back to the pole, then to Yuri again, curious and rather hungry for conversation]

Where'd you learn to pole dance, Yuri?

[That's definitely weird for him. Victor's taking an interest in him and he doesn't really know how to process it. His face turns a darker pink as he rubs around the back of his neck.]

I-In Detroit while I was training for the season. It was suggested by a friend in our bracket to help keep the weight off.

America, huh... [he'll look back and forth again, like he has a hard time connecting them when they aren't immediately together]

Chris learned there, too. I should have studied in America a while. All we did here was classical styles; ballet, tango, ballroom, that sort.

I learned ballet before I left Japan, but I learned ballroom and uh. Some other stuff in America. Besides this.

[Yuri's hand wrapped around the opposite arm, his toe tapping restlessly against the floor.]

Break dancing, too? Young Yuri really got shown up once you started that!

Hip-hop, breakstep...my roommate suggested those. [HE scratches shyly at his cheek.]

That's so cool!

[Turning a little bit pink over that. Victor you're sparkling at him.]

I...guess?

We only learned the traditional styles in Russia! I should have trained in America for a couple years, that sounds much more fun.

I could...probably teach you? Phichit's better at it than me. That's how he gets up so fast after he stumbles.

[He admires his friend for a lot of reasons, and that is definitely one of them. His reflexes were intense.]

Oooh, [he'll look a little distant, as if he's putting something together] huh! That's smart! Break dancing would help with fall recovery. Definitely show me some things-- [he'll point to the pole]

[The idea of Victor breakdancing is a funny one, at least to him, but he nods nonetheless. It is a useful skill, after all, when it comes to what they do.

Teaching pole dancing was a different ball game though.]

I don't know, it's not really meant for everyone. Can you even lift yourself up?

You think I got five gold medals and can't lift myself? [Yuri he's in like really good shape all around!]

It's a little different on a vertical pole. [He's patient as he explains, gesturing Victor over and taking hold of the pole himself.] You might be able to hang from it, and I bet you can pull yourself up but when it comes to maintaining a proper form it's not as easy as you'd think. How long did it take you before you could fully control your position within a spin?

Don't worry, I won't be brat when I'm bad at it to start! Promise. [He knows things take practice, he's diligent!]

Victor, that's why you start with the easy stuff. Here, you can definitely swing around. [He demonstrates, letting his weight drop in such a way that he's still supported on one foot, hanging from his hand as he goes in a full circle. He stands back up and steps back to let Victor try.]
